Houston is Simply Stunning

Forbes Traveler just declared the Worlds (13) Most Stunning Skylines. Up there with Sydney, Paris, London and Dubai was the one and only H-town?!?!? Chicka what?!?

"Houston has the Transco Tower and also Pennzoil Place, two towers that kiss,” say New York architects Peter Stamberg and Paul Aferiat. Thanks guys, we like it too. Just one more reason to be proud of our city. H-town rules!

Kitchen Relief

What took them so long? Finally, we no longer have to clumsily stack our frying pans on top of each other, which almost always results in a messy avalanche. I just bought an organizer (similar to the one above) from Walmart for $8 bucks, and it is the bomb diggity. If you need some order in your kitchen, it receives the H.W.C. seal of approval! (by the way, if you blog about kitchen supplies does that mean you are getting old?...just curious)

Oopsies...

The Coaster. Always a tricky decor item, skating the line of everything from blah to campy. Yet, the coaster is actually a more crucial design decision than we once thought. It is one of the items in your home most likely to be used by a guest, and thus, it should be memorable. Introducing the coolest coaster of all time. A coaster that looks like..well...an accident. I am definitely going to buy a set, and a maybe a few to keep for "just in case" gifts. The Clumsy Coaster is courtesy of UMA.

Welcome to the White House's First Baby! What a sweet, fuzzy face. I have a feeling that the Portuguese Water Dog sales will now skyrocket. Really, how adorable are these photos?

Have a Colorful Weekend!

Whether you are dying Easter eggs, or hanging out with these guys, hope you have a vibrant, luminous weekend! I will be spending the weekend in New Orleans, and I plan to party with these boa buddies from beginning to end. Chat with you guys on Monday!

New Sofa!!!

After years of scrimping and saving, we finally have our very first sofa! Not that we have been sitting on the floor the whole time, but this is the first one that isn't from Goodwill, the side of the road, or donated by my very generous parent-in-laws. The lovely delivery man is bringing it in as I type, and I just can't wait to enjoy it. The pieces can even be taken apart and rearranged, so I can re-makeover my living room any time I want. I'll take photos when all is in place, but above you can see the picture we took of the store model. Hip Hip HOORAY!!!!

The Summer Scarf

Has anyone else noticed the Hollywood trend that has spread like wild fire in H-town? If not, you will now. Summer scarves my friends. There couldn't be a more perfect choice for the in between seasons of Houston's nutty, vacillating climate. Here are some different ways you can try it...

The Key to Looking Fabulous

For some reason I have been enthralled with antique keys as of late. I think it started when I saw an add for Tiffany's key necklaces (above) in a magazine the other day. Always the tight wad, I went looking for something just as lovely, and not as pricey.

Here's a fabulous variety of key necklaces I found from Houston's Just Peachy, and the prices are AMAZING! See for yourself!

Terry Leavitt-Chavez at Gallery 3

Alright guys, I've got a fantastic Houston artist that you've got to check out this weekend. Her name is Terry Leavitt-Chavez, and her work is dynamite. For the past five years, she's had successful shows in some of the greatest Houston galleries, and she is already a well known name amongst Houston art gurus. She's originally from Chi-town, but has been a Houstonian for 13 years. My favorite thing about her is that she has an Old English Sheepdog named Prada, and Persian named Versace. Pet Lover+Fashion Lover=my new favorite person
You can see her exhibit Abstract Attractions this Saturday, April 4th from 5-9 at Gallery 3.

Winston

So I've tried to sit down and write several times today, but my mind is on other things. This morning we lost a very dear friend of our family. His name was Winston, and he was a 12 year old Rhodesian Ridgeback. We've spent lots of time with him over the past few years, and he was always the sweetest, happiest gentle giant...even the many times my feisty little doxie tried to boss him around. He will be dearly missed.
