Comic Chic

Mix one part fantasy, one part comic, and a large scoop of style, and you get the one-of-a-kind works of Jimmy Ferry. Clearly influenced by the likes of Takashi Murakami, Gustav Klimt, and Mark Ryden, each of Ferry's pieces take on a magical life of their own. Each painting whisks you away on its own unique trip, like Alice in Wonderland falling down the rabbit hole.

Ferry's detailed images start with common tools such as pencils, pen's, and acrylic paint, but then (utilizing his BFA in Computer Art) he scans and digitally manipulates his work. He also scans in items that add natural, real world texture, and layers them upon his works in progress. Though he swears his degree consisted of playing hakisac in the department hallway, it's obvious that this artist definitely paid attention in his digital environments class. Jimmy knows how to add the right amounts of color, adventure, and just a little bit of pixie dust to make his work come to life.
