Furry Friday Feature: Skipper

(snuggling with my foster siblings)
It's Furry Friday once again! Spreading the word to get some of our homeless Houston furry babies placed in homes. Every week we feature somebody new that would love to be part of your family. This week meet Skipper!

Why don't we let Skipper tell us his story?

Hi there! Skipper here - just checking in to tell you how well I'm doing in my foster home. I was a bit unsure at first and it took me a little while to get settled, but now I'm eating and playing like a champ! I'm still a bit thin so my foster Mom and Dad are trying to help me gain some weight - I'm eating up all the yummy food and treats that they're giving me, but I've discovered that my favorite thing in the whole world is chicken! Did someone say CHICKEN?! My foster Mom calls me the Skippergator, because I get so excited when I get to eat chicken that sometimes I forget that I know how to eat treats s...l...o...w...l...y.

I'm learning things really quickly, and now I sit for my dinner, and I come when you call my name. I've started to play with my foster brother and sisters and I love running full speed in the yard with them - you know what? I'm FAST!! I make my foster Mom laugh when I run across the yard with my big ears flapping - she says that my forever family should enter me in the Wild West Weinerfest Weiner Dog races. I'm not sure what that is, but it sounds like fun!

I didn't really like my crate to start with, but I sleep there all night with my 2 baby foster sisters now, and I don't make a single sound. If you'd let me though, I'd much rather sleep in the big bed with you. As soon as my foster Mom puts me on the bed, I dive under the sheets and curl up by her feet - It's my job to keep her safe, you see. I just love cuddles, and I have to sit on your lap if you sit down....it doesn't matter where you're sitting. I know it's my job to sit with you, so I'll stare into your eyes and ask very nicely to be picked up. Did I mention my eyes already? My foster Mom says they're beautiful - each eye is half blue and half brown - she says it makes me extra special. I'm also doing very well with my potty business - I had a few accidents inside, but I'm really getting the hang of it now.

Well, I think that's all for now - this is the Skipper signing off. Must get back to protecting my foster Mom by sitting on her lap.

Furry Friday Feature: Bette Davis

It's Furry Friday once again! Spreading the word to get some of our homeless Houston furry babies placed in homes. Every week we feature somebody new that would love to be part of your family. This week meet Bette Davis (bet you can guess how this little lady got her name:).

Here is some info from Bette's Foster parents:

Everyone loves her and she loves everyone...she doesn't even bark at strangers. It also didn't take her very long to figure out the bed was a good thing and now she asks to go up there every night. She learns quickly by following the other dog's examples. She's very smart and eager to please...which makes training super easy also.

Furry Friday Feature: Oreo

It's Furry Friday once again! A new HWC blog tradition that we hope will help get some of our homeless Houston furry babies placed in homes. Every week we will feature somebody new that would love to be part of your family. This week meet Oreo!

Some info from DROH:

Oreo is as sweet as they come, with that mellow personality he has just stolen our hearts. All he wants out of life is to lay next to you, wherever you are in the house. If you are at your desk, he lays at your feet. Watching TV, lays by your side. Sleeping, snuggles at the foot of the bed....but then he gets too warm and jumps down on his own comfy bed! Mealtime is also a favorite time of day for him, so he needs to be fed separate from his buddies, otherwise he tries to eat everyone’s food. He’s not ever aggressive around food, he just likes to eat! He gets along fine with other dogs, he just has no interest in playing with them. Oreo is as low maintenance as they come, and he is very affectionate. I wish all my fosters were this easy (but then I’d probably adopt them all!)

Furry Friday Feature: Blackie

It's Furry Friday once again! A new HWC blog tradition that we hope will help get some of our homeless Houston furry babies placed in homes. Every week we will feature somebody new that would love to be part of your family. This week meet Blackie!

Some info from DROH:

Blackie was left at a house when the owners moved out. The new owner found the former owners, gave him back, then mysteriously Blackie ended up back in the new owners back yard a week later... The new owner took care of him for years until the new owner had to move and could not take him. Blackie thanks Mr. A for taking care of him for so long and will be forever grateful. Blackie now needs a permanent home. Will you be the end to his long journey?

It's Furry Friday once again! A new HWC blog tradition that we hope will help get some of our homeless Houston furry babies placed in homes. Every week we will feature somebody new that would love to be part of your family. This week meet Shaggy.

He's a rambunctious little guy, who is super sweet with a unique brownish coat. Here are some fabulous photos of him from the DROH "Aint Nothin' But Hound Dogs" Event.

Donations for Doxies

The holidays are finally in our rear view, Christmas trees are down (hopefully), and it's time to get ready for spring! So why not get a jump on that spring cleaning? Where to start? How about deculttering your doggie drawer, and donating the excess to needy puppies?

Très Chic has teamed up with the Dachshund Rescue of Houston, for a full out “Doxie Drive”. We are currently collecting donation items such as dog food, blankets, leashes, crates, collars, etc. to go directly to the Dachshund Rescue.

As an extra bonus, if you schedule a decorating, organizing, or style consultation during the month of January, Très Chic will donate 10% of the proceeds to the Dachshund Rescue of Houston. That’s a lot of dachshund squeaky toys!

For a full list of needed puppy supplies you can visit the DROH website(dachshundrescueofhouston.org), or to arrange a pick up, please send requests to mailto:info@tcdhouston.com
