Furry Friday Feature: Bette Davis

It's Furry Friday once again! Spreading the word to get some of our homeless Houston furry babies placed in homes. Every week we feature somebody new that would love to be part of your family. This week meet Bette Davis (bet you can guess how this little lady got her name:).

Here is some info from Bette's Foster parents:

Everyone loves her and she loves everyone...she doesn't even bark at strangers. It also didn't take her very long to figure out the bed was a good thing and now she asks to go up there every night. She learns quickly by following the other dog's examples. She's very smart and eager to please...which makes training super easy also.

The early bird catches the worm. If you see a puppy that would be a good fit for you home, be sure to get your application in asap, as they are on a first come first serve basis. Not ready to adopt? The Dachshund Rescue of Houston always needs fosters:)

Rain, Rain Come to Stay!

After almost a year, I finally had the opportunity to use my däv peacock umbrella this week. I also was spared from having to witness my husband spend hours watering our lawn in his underwear, but that's neither here nor there...

If the rain keeps up (pretty pretty please?) I may have to add däv's english quilted black rain boot (pictured above), or perhaps this pair. They have so many fun boots! Check out their site, and tell us which pair you would love to have for jumping in rain puddles!

Still on a bit of a hiatus this week. To bridge the gap, I thought I'd share some floral fun from local Rosebud Lips.

Sushi Choo Choo

I ate at the coolest place this weekend. It's called Sushi Choo Choo, the "moving" sushi restaurant. Perplexed (and a bit fascinated) by how the restaurant "moves," we of course had to see for ourselves. The concept is ingenious, especially for those a bit sheepish with sushi. The "choo choo" of freshly made mini sushi plates travel on a mini conveyor belt, in front of your seat (see video below). Each plate is color coded by price level, so you know exactly what price it is before you gobble it down. The menu is a no-brainer with colorful pictures and clearly worded descriptions so you can decide what you want to grab off of the belt. Not only was it an amusing concept, but I ate until I was stuffed, and my meal was about $11. Go ride the train.

Get Your Bonnet On

I'm a northeastern girl at heart, so I'm always fascinated by little Texas-isms. The latest phenomenon that has me all giddy, is the celebration of the bluebonnets. While driving down 290 this past weekend, there were hoards of Moms, Dads, kids, and puppy dogs pulled over on the interstate, rolling around in the wild flowers, and taking photographs. Commonplace to many, but completely new to me! Now I am obsessed with taking my own furry family for a photo shoot. So where are some of the best places to do this? The best resource I've found is Lone-star.net. They have a bulletin board where people can post wildflower sightings. Anyone else have a stellar resource?

Atty Myer

A new year always seems to bring about new talent. While hunting for a new clutch, I came across these perfect little handmade bags by Atty Myer. At only $24 a piece, I highly suggest stocking up on every style.

Nooks and Crackers...er Crannies

Just wanted to give a BIG thank you to one of my fellow organizers, Janine Godwin, for giving Houston's Weekly Chic such a super sweet write up on her (highly entertaining) Nooks and Crannies blog. Whenever you need some helpful information/advice along with a pinch of wit and a dash of sarcastic humor, go check it out. She's a trip. Thanks Janine!
